Send Love to Sulawesi

The recent tsunami that hit Indonesia’s Sulawesi on 28th September 2018 has claimed more than 2,000 lives and injured over 4,000 people. Tens of thousands of houses have been destroyed, leaving more than 200,000 people homeless.

In the immediate aftermath, Tzu Chi Indonesia kicked-started its humanitarian aid efforts to provide relief to the disaster victims in the hardest hit Palu City, Donggala and Sigi. It has set up emergency relief stations to provide medical relief for the sick and injured, and also distributed aid supplies, such as hot meals, tents, ready food, toiletries, blankets, mattresses, etc., as well as cash relief to the affected residents. In addition, Tzu Chi volunteers in Sulawesi continue to provide emotional support for those traumatised by the disaster.

On 15th October 2018, Tzu Chi Indonesia signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Indonesia military to build 3,000 homes for those who have lost their homes to the disaster. In addition to the residential units, the project will include the construction of schools, healthcare facilities, religious premises, community centres, etc.

To support the relief efforts in Sulawesi, Tzu Chi Merit Organization (Singapore) will be collecting donations from the public from 30th October 2018 to 25th November 2018. Every cent of your donation will be channelled to Tzu Chi Indonesia’s long-term relief efforts in Sulawesi, to help the disaster victims rebuild their homes and lives.
