30 November 2020 marks the first anniversary of Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre (HYC). HYC’s partners and interested parties have been invited to celebrate this anniversary together for a month.
The aim of the event is to recall and review the year 2020 and also to look forward to a better 2021. It is also hoped that the youth centre can continue to serve the local community and become a platform for youth to voice out their opinions and creativity as well as to live out their potential.
With the required preventive measures in place, Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre celebrates its first anniversary.

We are not fully opened yet, that is why we are not able to invite a large crowd for a massive celebration within a day. So we decided to celebrate it for a month by conducting small scale courses and sharing kind of activities. We are inviting small groups for each event. We are using a very safe method to invite people to celebrate this first anniversary with us.
Because the centre is basically a crisis centre in the past one year From Circuit Breaker to August, half of this centre was partitioned off to be utilized by healthcare staff from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Looking back at 2020, as the pandemic continues to evolve, Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre has served its purpose in helping to stabilize the society.

I feel that this youth centre is actually a Jing Si Hall or an extension of Tzu Chi, which keeps observing the actual needs of the society. We are like a facilitator, that serves as the middle person who brings different people together. We hope to display the humanistic culture of Tzu Chi during this process, such as how we treat people with courtesy, how we practice Tzu Chi’s kind of compassion and show love and respect during difficult times like these.
With memories of the past and aspiration for a better future, we hope to build a better youth centre together with our visitors.
