German chef demonstrates Western cuisine using Jing Si products

In conjunction with Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre’s first anniversary celebration, a chef from Germany was invited by Jing Si Books & Café to demonstrate a few western dishes using Jing Si products. The cooking demo event has changed the public’s stereotype perception of Jing Si products.

It would be quite boring if you are preparing Jing Si instant rice with plain water. Let Daniel show you a new way of enjoying it.

Member of the public, Lee Shu Yi

I used to find it dull, but now I feel refreshed by how it can be prepared in so many ways and still tastes so good. After seeing today’s cooking demo, I find that vegetarian (seasoning) can be natural and simple.

Chef, Daniel Schneider

As a chef, I think we are in a very unique position to share our knowledge, to help other people to learn about food, to learn about recipes.

NS:We have a little bit of lemon juice, we have olive oil

To prepare for this cooking demo, Daniel had spent his after working hours to study various dishes. Although experimenting on new ingredients are fresh attempts, it is of great significance to be able to promote vegetarianism. He also agrees that vegetarianism will be the future trend.

Chef, Daniel Schneider

It’s a cuisine, it is a way of eating for the future. I like to eat vegetarian food. I like to eat vegan food as well. This will be the future eventually. We can’t continue eating animals in the amount we are having now.

Tzu Chi volunteer, Teh Soo Peng

We are hoping that he is able to demonstrate different ways of meal preparation using Jing Si products.

Exquisite meals do not necessarily require expensive ingredients nor complex preparation. Simple cooking can be tasty and appealing too. A dish without meat is a meal filled with love.
