Having Fun and Learning about Environmental Protection Together
On the day of the Environmental Education E-Sports World Cup Finals, environmental protection educational booths were set up at the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre, covering nine major environmental topics drawn from the game. There was also a simulation of the game that allowed the public to experience the excitement and learn at the same time. Through fun and games, adults and children learned about environmental protection and became more aware of the importance of protecting our environment.
How do you think your energy can help out in this question?
Designing character cards allows both parties to start debating on environmental issues. This is a small game developed by a group of Republic Polytechnic students in collaboration with Youth Corps Singapore.
Youth Corps Aspirant ,School of Technology of the Arts, Republic Polytechnic‘s student,Sharis Kwang: It's our first time, so it was a little nervous. We feel that environmental protection is a very important topic now to encourage active participation of young people and raise awareness about environmental protection.
On the day of the Environmental Education E-Sports World Cup Finals, while the players on the field competed against each other, the environmental protection educational booths outside the “battlefield” were very lively as well. The booths presented the nine themes from the e-sports games, such as climate change and circular economy.
When the water level rises to 5 metres, our Singapore will look like this.
Member of the public ,Lam Yan Yan: Don't use paper bags (If we don't use paper bags, what can we use?) Use our bags, eco-bags.
Member of the public ,Yew Sok Yee :Use fewer takeaway boxes. Because of the pandemic, I have done more takeaways.
Member of the public , Lau Eng Yaw:I have learnt a lot, like how to reduce waste, food waste, waste of living materials, and excessive energy consumption. It is very meaningful.
There was also a simulation of the e-sports games on site, allowing the public to experience the exciting, interesting and educational games. This learning trip was an eye-opener for Tzu Shao’s Zeng Lin, who discovered environmental protection for the first time.
Tzu Shao, Zeng Lin:It's very interesting, I generally don't have access to these knowledge because the main focus in school has always been academics. Each of us should get involved in environmental protection, it should not be done selectively as it is something imminent.
Environmental protection is not just a slogan but an action that has to be implemented to jointly create a green future.
